I've been telling people about this sign for years, and it was on my list from the very beginning, but I finally got around to taking a picture.  Unfortunately it came out a little blurry, but here it is, "Up Grade Your Salvation!" (Click on the picture to see it full size.)  By the way, because of really dumb comments by narrow minded people (people with no sense of humor), I have had to put the caution at the top of my page. In it I said that this page's purpose was not to degrade anyone.  Well, I don't even want to degrade the people from this church, but I must say that the doctrine that they are espousing is anti-Christian.  It is evil.  It is Gnosticism. These people have added something to salvation.  They are preaching a different gospel--which is really no gospel at all.  As Paul says, they are eternally condemned (Galatians 1:6-9 NIV).  Strong words, I know, but you will have to blame Paul and the Holy Spirit for that.

In case you are wondering, Acts 2:38 says: "Peter replied, 'Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.  And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.'" (NIV) Funny, there doesn't seem to be anything there about upgrading one's salvation. It is speaking about being saved.  Of course, these people think that the gift of the Holy Spirit is something they can give you ... salvation 2.0.  Well, I would rather have true salvation from Christ alone.

The best position is on your knees. (Nate's friend Frank saw this. It is hard to believe a pastor would put this on a marquee. Perhaps he doesn't get it?) (By the way, I don't think this is a real church in the photo, but it is funny.)   The sign on the left was submitted by Vince around the time the US invaded Iraq ... it is very sad (I don't believe churches should make such political statements ... but that is my opinion). I don't know if the sign to the right is real, but it cracks me up. I can see a church actually placing that on their sign thinking they were doing good ... people should study English grammar. I have some serious doubts about this being real, but it is funny. The one below is another than I have serious doubts about, but again it is funny. I don't know how this could be interpreted as anything other than sexual. The one below is so dumb it has to be real. I hope the one below not real. Click on the image to the left to see it full size. It was too big for this page. It is really funny (and sad). One should be very careful about how one abbreviates on a church sign. Everyone is welcome to everlasting punishment? What a nice church.
